As we embark on our second annual trip to the California State Capitol, we are proud to be at the forefront of the movement to build parent power and tirelessly advocate for educational equity. In our journey towards a fair and just education system, we recognize the pivotal role of parents as champions of change. By amplifying their voices and providing them with the tools and support they need, we empower parents to become catalysts for transformative action in their schools, neighborhoods, and beyond.

Reflecting on Our Historic Journey to the Capitol
Last year, our journey to the Capitol was nothing short of historic. Parent leaders from our network came together to discuss three key legislative priorities with lawmakers, showcasing the incredible impact of parent engagement in shaping education policy.
During our trip, we witnessed firsthand the dedication and passion of our parent leaders as they shared their stories and advocated for policies that would benefit all students. From advocating for dedicated funding for Black Student Achievement to pushing for policies that ensure access to timely, quality translation of IEP documents for parents and guardians, our parent leaders demonstrated the power of grassroots advocacy in driving change.
But our trip to the Capitol was about more than just legislative discussions. It was about empowering parents to become advocates for change in their communities and beyond. We stayed committed to breaking language barriers by hiring interpreters for each legislative visit, making each meeting fully bilingual to allow Spanish-speaking parents to participate and be heard. By providing a platform for parent voices to be heard, we are not only amplifying the voices of those directly affected by education policies but also creating a more inclusive and equitable education system for all.
