As we mourn the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, and countless other Black people whose lives were lost at the hands of racist policing and injustice, Innovate Public Schools stands in solidarity with their families and with our Black brothers and sisters who are rising in protest. We feel rage, frustration, profound sadness and grief.
Innocent Black people continue to be murdered by people in power and by vigilantes. ENOUGH! We must demand justice and the real policy changes that will bring down white supremacy and racism. To Black families who are part of Innovate and Black people everywhere: we see you, we love you, we stand with you.
We urge all protesters to please be safe and kind to yourself — COVID-19 continues to threaten Black and Brown communities disproportionately. You are important. You matter. You are valuable beyond measure.
