In March 2026, Innovate’s team and parents came together to advance high-quality education in our public schools! Here’s just a sample of our March activities.

Southeast Los Angeles parent leaders, community partners, and Innovate alumni attended the Superintendent for Public Instruction Candidate forum to learn more about the candidates for the position.

Innovate was proud to serve as a sponsor and lead presenter of the inaugural 2026 Black Student Leadership Conference, hosted by our partners, the Black Youth Advisory Board of San Mateo County and the Bay Area Community Health Advisory Council.

Innovate Parent Navigators launched a listening campaign in the Ravenswood District, which will run through May, culminating in a public action where parents will share what we learned and propose solutions. Innovate Parent Navigators have set an ambitious goal of reaching at least 400 parents and caregivers across the district.

Parents in Westlake-Pico Union met with Innovate at Hoover Elementary School to learn more about organizing and building power.

Innovate staff member Maurice Goodman attended an advocacy day led by our partner Edvoice at the state Capitol in Sacramento. After attending the press conference, Maurice and other advocates met directly with legislators and their staff, and gave public comment in the Assembly Education Budget Subcommittee hearing. The focus was extending funding for the Golden State Teacher Grant (GSTG). Maurice also uplifted the importance of reinvesting in the Diverse Education Leaders Pipeline Initiative (DELPI), a workforce development state grant program critical to cultivating diverse school leaders, retaining and supporting teachers, and improving outcomes for the diverse students and communities that our schools serve. This is a budget initiative Innovate supported in previous years, led by our partners at the Diversity in Leadership Institute (DLI).
