Days away from the start of the new school year, over 200 parents and community members gathered in a virtual community action led by parent leaders with Innovate Public Schools and Sacred Heart Community Service. Parent leaders voiced their concerns on distance learning and shared their priorities with San José Unified School District (SJUSD) Board Trustees Carla Collins and José Magaña.

The San José: Let’s come together for kids! event featured performances and testimonials from students and parents, as well as questions for and requests of school board members. Parent leaders specifically asked the Board Trustees to commit to prioritizing tech support for parents, improving communication between schools and parents, bolstering the support for SPED and EL students, ensuring parents are included in the development of the Learning Continuity Plan, and ensuring that parent input committees continue to meet. 

Are their responses going to benefit all students and families in SJUSD?
