This July, Innovate Public Schools proudly celebrated the graduation of 18 new community organizers from our Community Organizer Training Program (COTP). These changemakers now join a growing alumni network of 253 graduates who are shaping a more just, inclusive, and equitable education system across our communities.

COTP equips passionate parents, caregivers, and community leaders with the tools they need to build grassroots power and achieve lasting policy wins. From navigating local education policy to building infrastructure for local campaigns and coalitions, our graduates leave the program with the tools, confidence, and skills to make real change.

“Every time we graduate a new class of community organizers, we’re reminded that lasting change doesn’t start in boardrooms. It starts with parents and community members who are deeply rooted in the fight for equity. This cohort reflects the power of parent leadership and the urgency of our shared vision for high-quality public education for every child. We are proud to welcome them into our growing COTP alumni network,” said Michelle Vilchez, CEO of Innovate Public Schools

Throughout the program, these graduates showed up for their communities, built relationships across lines of difference, and deepened their understanding of how to fight for world-class public schools for all children.
