About The Family Guide
In 2022, Superintendent Carvalho released a strategic plan for LAUSD called, Ready for the World, that sets ambitious goals to improve student achievement and close opportunity gaps by 2026. When the Superintendent met with Innovate parent leaders in November 2022 he committed to develop a family guide that would help families understand what’s being promised in the strategic plan. In April 2023, Innovate began working in partnership with families and LAUSD to design a guide that’s rooted in parent voice.
The family guide is an actionable tool to help parents understand key pillars in the strategic plan. This guide equips parents to engage in powerful conversations with school and district leaders to ensure schools are meeting goals for students. In order for the strategic plan to be successful, parents must be engaged as partners. When our communities, schools, and families come together, we can help LAUSD students thrive.
