Bio

Marchelle Moten is Regional VP in the Peninsula for Innovate Public Schools; on a mission to ensure that every student has a world-class public school. She has been an educator and equity activist for more than 25 years.

Most recently, Marchelle served as the director for First Five Fox Valley, a nonprofit organization supporting young children and their families by providing a coordinated and aligned system of resources.

Prior to leading strategy in the Fox Valley, Marchelle was the principal at Jefferson Elementary School in Green Bay, Wisconsin. During her tenure at Jefferson, the school was recognized twice by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a School of Recognition – Beating the Odds. The distinction goes to only a handful of Wisconsin public schools that demonstrate strong evidence of closing achievement gaps among students from vulnerable populations, including students of color and students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Marchelle also served as the district equity officer for Green Bay Area Public Schools for two years; where she advocated for equitable outcomes for all students applying an equity lens to systems, curriculum, school and teacher practice, and gap closure.

As a champion for the underrepresented and disenfranchised, Marchelle has worked passionately to improve the lives of children and families in urban, suburban and rural communities in Illinois, Arizona, California and Wisconsin.

Marchelle is a proud graduate of the Chicago Public Schools and is a first-generation college graduate. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from DePaul University and holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from National-Louis University.
