Navigator Schools

Matt Hammer

Andrea  is a founding teacher at Navigator Schools.  She is a passionate educator who has dedicated her career to closing the achievement gap found in low-income communities. Andrea’s interest in education was inspired by her father who served many years as a principal in the Central Valley.  To pursue these interests, Andrea attended San Francisco State University where she majored in Liberal Studies.  As a student athlete, Andrea was able to gain leadership experience by becoming the soccer team’s captain.

As Andrea grew in her career, she began serving as an instructional coach to other teachers on campus.   This gave her the opportunity to mentor beginning teachers on campus.  As a mentor, Andrea encouraged many of her teachers to utilize innovative instructional strategies and interventions to improve student academic achievement.  Presently, Andrea serves as the Academic Dean for Hollister Prep School, where she hopes to continue to positively influence her students.
