Communications Associate, Peninsula & San Francisco

Bio

Natalie is the Communications Associate for the San Fransisco and Peninsula regions. She is a proud Guatemalan-American and an advocate for racial equity.

She started her career as an Organizer in Oakland, CA, where she worked with faith-based communities and successfully led negotiations for a free youth bus program. There, she quickly realized how tied communications work is tied with organizing.

She went on to work with the San Diego Labor Council where she organized workers and created compelling videos and graphics for campaigns across the region and worked closely with both Communications and Organizing teams. She loves exploring video tools to create more accessibility and brings in storytelling in everything she does.

Passionate about immigration issues, she traveled and lived in Latin America. She is a lifelong learner and traveler and brings her creativity and passion for social justice in everything she does.

In her free time, Natalie likes to watch “how-to” youtube videos, meditate, travel, and salsa dance.

I’m passionate about ______ because ______.

I’m passionate about transforming our public school education system because I know first hand how difficult it was for myself and my parents to navigate the U.S. public school system. Parents as well as students deserve educational opportunities, not structural barriers.

What I love most about our work is …

…hearing parent leaders tell their stories about fighting for change, owning their story, and inspiring other parents to do the same!
